Uhamera Species Sheet.
Physical Appearance:
The Uhamera resemble bipedal asian dragons. They have slender bodies covered in a thick skin that has the look and feel of polished leather. Their faces are almost canine in appearance with long muzzles and nosepads. They males can have catfish-like whiskers on the muzzle.
Both genders have manes of long, hairlike feathers on the top of their heads and tail tips, but the males tend to be "hairier", often having hair on their jawline,chins, elbows and ankles.
Either gender can have either chestplates or smooth skin down the throat, chest and stomach.
Uhamera are very colorful aliens. Their skin and hair can be almost any color. However, they can’t be rainbow colored as they usually only have two or three main colors that should compliment themselves nicely. Their horns aren’t as colorful and should always be more naturally colored. A shade of tan or brown.
Any markings are usually a darker color than their main body color. However, 2% of the population with markings can have their markings be a different color than the body.
Their eye color can be any color except black and white, although brown eyes are rare.
Uhamera and the Alliance:
While the Uhamera are not one of the five elder races, their voice is strong among Alliance politics and they are very
influential on the younger species. They are always concerned for the good of the Alliance and the galaxy as a whole.
However, they often find it difficult to integrate themselves completely into the cultures of other species. While they can live indefinitely among other cultures, most Uhamera will start longing for their homeworld and culture after a certain amount of time.
As a heavily spiritual species, some Uhamera will develop a sense of superiority to species that lack strong spiritual ties,
regarding members of those species as empty husks or mere “ghosts”.
Personality:
Uhamera are honest and diligent, following a strict code of morals and taking great pride in whatever they do. They consider
themselves to be very polite. Things that most foreigners don’t see as a big deal, such as not personally welcoming every guest at a party is considered to be very rude. However, they will readily forgive foreigners when they do things that Uhamera would consider rude since they understand that other species don’t have the same customs and traditions.
They are kindhearted and show genuine concern for those around them, paying special attention to those in need. This can be used against them by people who try to take advantage of their kindness. It is never wise to mistake an Uhamera’s generosity for gullibility because once an Uhamera's trust in someone is broken, it can never be regained.
Sex and Reproduction:
The Uhamera often do mate for life. In their culture, it is highly frowned apon to have more than one lover at the same time.
They give birth to live young rather than laying eggs. Until age 18, Uhamera age at the same rate as humans. After they reach adulthood, their internal organs begin to age at a huch slower pace.
Diet:
They are omnivorous, but most have a preference to fish and seafood.
Many Uhamera prefer their fish still alive when eaten because they like the sensation of the fish wriggling down their throats. They also like fruit. And tea. And fruit flavored tea.
Most dislike overly processed foods.
Language and Names:
The Uhari language is smooth and flowing with plenty of use of “u”, “i” “a” and “r” syllables. Many of their words end in vowels.
The tradition of words ending in vowels carries over to many Uhamera names as most (but not all) of their names end in soft vowel sounds
regardless of gender. In rare cases, a Uhamera will be given a name based on words in other languages.
